Lake Erie Walleye Fishing: Locations

I grew up in Northwestern Pennsylvania, so Lake Erie was only a short drive away. Since it was so close, we often fished the lake and tributaries for walleye and steelhead. Walnut Creek Marina

Walnut Creek Marina is a great spot to fish in the early spring, generally right when Pennsylvania walleye season comes in. The fish are shallow and feeding on bait fish and perch. The North-East Boat Ramp off Route 5 in Erie is one of my most favorite spots to catch a limit of fish. The walleye are generally in this area in the mid-May to mid-June time range. They are migrating from their spawning areas west near the Ohio state line and heading east towards New York.  These fish have been successfully caught in 60 to 90 feet of water depth range.

Travel out of the harbor and head in the northwest direction. Erie is a very structure deprived lake and is flat. Look for any elevation changes on the fish finder. Head out of the harbor and move in the North-East direction until you are in 90 feet of water.
